I’m tired of feeling worn down.
I take things day by day. I sit down, I work my two jobs, I get off work, I study, I cook, I go to the gym, I get a little decompression time.
And then I do it all over again.
This seems to be the case for the majority of people I know. For many people in this country. And we all just feel worn down.
We’re tired, we’re overworked, we’re underpaid, we’re overstimulated. Everything is so much, all at once, all the time.
Every bit of this takes energy. It drains from a battery that we try to recharge at the end of every day. But at some point, it seems there are diminishing returns. I get the same amount of rest but wake up with less energy than I had yesterday.
And I think that’s the point.
We’re kept in an endless cycle until we draw our final breath. We work, we eat, we sleep. We die. We find some solace in the company of others, and when we need to decompress we do so by spending money. We watch a TV show or a movie, we play a game, we buy something online, we go out and get a drink. All to make ourselves feel a little better so that we can get up and do it all over again.
And with that, we’re kept too poor and too tired to do anything. To fight. To advocate. To do anything but work the same shit job for the same shit pay so that we can afford the same shit roof over our heads, shit food in our stomachs, and the newest shit streaming service to come out.
We aren’t happy and complacent. We’re fucking exhausted. So much so that, even if we can see through the endless waves of propaganda, we can’t DO anything about it because we don’t have the time or energy. We have to pay bills. To buy food.
We feed ourselves to feed a much larger machine. A machine that takes every ounce of energy its fuel sources can supply to crank out the largest output it can. An endless supply of money drained from this horrific, nightmarish system that can sustain itself indefinitely off of human labor.
They learned years ago that, to keep us quiet, they just had to keep us tired. So we can make just enough money to barely cover living expenses and have a little left over to buy some form of entertainment to counteract the depression. We can go into massive debt to keep ourselves afloat so that our interest payments fund some billionaire’s fifteenth goddamn yacht. All the while, they drain the life essence out of every one of us and the planet we live on.
Because it doesn’t matter to them. All that matters to them is another 0 at the end of their bank account.
That is all you are to them. That is all you have ever been since some dipshit actor said “trickle-down economics.”
They tightened the seal, they built the dam. There isn’t a fucking trickle anymore. There isn’t even a drop.
And it’s by design. This whole system is doing exactly what they intended it to do.
We live in a Theocratic Corporatocracy. Politicians and media outlets use performative Christianity to create a massive base of support that doesn’t need much else other than some vile rhetoric about how brown people are bad.
They use that base to satisfy the corporations that run us. That control us. Because we live in a country of profit over people. Profit over anything.
And I’m fucking tired of it.
You should be too.
